Construction
No experience is necessary, just a willing attitude and a desire to help! All skill levels welcome. Construction volunteers are guided by professional construction staff and trained volunteer Crew Leaders!
To be eligible to volunteer on Habitat’s construction site you must:
• Sign a volunteer waiver
• Be at least 18 years old (some activities are age restrictive).
• Be able to make a full day commitment to Habitat (8:00am-3:30pm).
REMEMBER: Construction is a physical task and all volunteers should be comfortable being on your feet for long periods of time and working out side.
Please note that we do ask all volunteers to make a full day commitment to HfH-MC (approximately 8:00am - 3:30pm - the time may vary depending on the day and the crew). Please arrive on time and plan to stay for the entire day.
ALL volunteers must be wearing closed toed shoes and have a valid waiver on file to volunteer with Habitat. If you have not signed a waiver, you may fill one out on site.
If you are skilled, please help those around you and consider becoming a Crew Leader. Crew Leaders are volunteers who act as “coaches” for semi-skilled or unskilled volunteers. Crew Leaders demonstrate tasks, maintain standards, monitor safety, and ensure that on-site volunteers have a satisfying experience.
Don’t want to do construction work but still want to lend a hand, consider becoming a Site Coordinator! Site Coordinators are responsible for coordinating morning check-in including setting-up the sign-in table, parking sign and water stations on the worksite prior to the volunteers arriving, directing volunteers to parking areas if they drive directly to the site and the sign-in area, ensure that all volunteers have completed waiver forms, signed in and made a name tag, performs any other needed tasks to keep the worksite running smoothly, take down parking and no parking signs, secure sign in table and materials in the construction trailer and clean up any remaining trash from lunch. Two volunteers are needed per day from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm.
